Weekly Highlights - Term 1: Week 3

All About Me

Hello everyone and welcome to our second addition of our TheirCare recap for the week. This week has been amazing having Natalie to support and help during ASC transition times. This week our children were focusing on All about me as we discussed our interests and worked on our Children Philosophy.

We started our cooking club and first thing that our children wanted to learn how to make was chocolate cupcakes. We also had a chance to explore gym, indoor and outdoor space as we used dramatic play to extend on our creativity and imagination.

Dramatic play allows children to step outside the ordinary, experiment with different roles and scenarios, and explore the world around them in a creative and meaningful way. Science and music and movements were also part of our daily activities where children were able to make slime, goop, and playdough.

Finally, was celebrating Valentine Day. Children used their creativity to make cards for their loved ones: mum, dad, brothers and sisters.

Weekly Highlights - Term 1: Week 4

Implementing our OSHC Values

This week our focus here at Lalor East TheirCare was learning about our school values and with our children's assistance implementing them in our room. During our group time sessions this week we spoke about Respect - and what does it mean. Kindness and Responsibility. It was amazing to hear children being able to share ideas and connect their life experience with our values and even tell us a story. Being Responsible, Respectful and Kind also for us means helping and assisting others in need.

Children this week worked on their TheirCare badges to wear – meaning they pulled their hand up to be our assistants and help other children if needed. Children also explored indoor/gym and outdoor play. We played Hide and Seek, Tag, run for fun, Obstacle courses in the gym and explored our sensory relaxed play by playing with iron beads, kinetic and cloud sand.

Weekly Highlights - Term 1: Week 5

This week the children and Zore/Natalie have been looking at Lalor East’s new school values of Respect, Responsibility and Kindless. The children have brainstormed ways they can use these values at OSHC. We have discuessed the values and have started to make a new and exciting display within the space.

Did you know polar bears have jet black skin underneath their fur? Several children have been creating incredible posters about their favourite animals. It all stemmed from our discussion over what animal we would love to be, during afternoon tea. We have learnt many terrific facts about greenland sharks and polar bears. The children have also been very excited to show their parents their hard work too.

We have all be super active this week. We have played basketball, tennis and dodgeball outside. We’ve also been able to play a few group games inside the gym too. We absolutely love hide and seek tiggy. We have also boogied to all our favourite songs. The girls especially have been creating their own dance moves, move over KPOP!

Our creative hats have been on too. The children have been making cool things with clay including an awesome mug and monsters, they have built amazing planes/cars out of lego, and a super amazing cupboard house, inspired by Zootopia 2, using recycled materials.

What a fun and exciting week!
