Art with Bianca

Our Prep/1 students have been exploring portraits this term. For this piece, they began by creating painted backgrounds using tempera paint, then drew full-body self-portraits in black marker. The students then carefully cut out and pasted their portrait onto the backgrounds. I really love how unique these pieces are! Fabulous work, P/1A and P/1B!
These portraits are now on display in the main office and the Azure Building.
Over the past few weeks, the grade 1/2 students have been working on a multimedia self portrait project titled ‘I am…’ The students were interviewed to record the text statements and could choose how they would like to pose in their photo. The background was created using a range of materials including oil pastels, crayons, tempera paint and ink. The final stage was to put it all together using collaging (cut, arrange, paste) techniques.
These look amazing and I’m hoping to find a space to put these on display soon!
Impressive work Grade 1/2 A and 1/2 B! Love seeing your unique personalities shining bright!
The Grade 3/4 students have started working on their major assessment piece for Art this term. We have been learning about Pablo Picasso and Cubism and the students will be creating their very own Picasso inspired portrait.
Here are a few of our students in the planning process! They are using reference pictures to help them plan and develop their ideas. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they will come up with, I have been very impressed with their designs so far!
Stay tuned!
The students in Grade 5/6 have been developing their drawing skills by learning about still life drawing, applying value (shading) and experimenting with a range of drawing materials. In this lesson, the students drew plants from observation using charcoal. I was so impressed with how the students were willing to experiment with the charcoal and apply newly acquired skills.
As you can see, they were very proud to share these photos for the newsletter!
Amazing work Grade 5/6 A and B!
