Year 7 Camp

Year 7’s Unforgettable Start to High School
Our Year 7 students have made an outstanding start to their high school journey, embracing every opportunity to connect, challenge themselves and build confidence. From the Mini Olympics and Swimming Carnival to the much-anticipated camp at Campaspe Downs, Term 1 has been full of energy and excitement.
Camp provided the perfect setting for three days of adventure, teamwork and personal growth. From the moment they arrived, students immersed themselves in team-building activities that encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, build trust and form new friendships. Very quickly, the camp was filled with laughter, encouragement and a wonderful sense of camaraderie between students and staff.
Across the three days, students embraced a range of challenges — from the giant swing and abseiling to canoeing and raft building. Each activity provided opportunities to demonstrate courage, resilience and teamwork. It was inspiring to see students support one another, celebrate successes and persist when faced with new challenges.
By the time the buses returned on Wednesday, there were certainly some tired faces — but also a strong sense of achievement. Students came home with not only incredible memories, but also strengthened friendships, growing confidence and a deeper sense of belonging within the GEC community.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 7 cohort has begun their high school adventure. Their enthusiasm, determination and willingness to have a go have set a positive tone for the year ahead.
