CHOPPED Band at Graduation

On Monday evening, CHOPPED band entertained students and families as they arrived for the Year 12 Graduation at GMHBA Stadium. Their energetic performance included upbeat songs such as "Funkytown" and "I Feel Good." 

This had people dancing along in the foyer, creating a fun atmosphere. 

Thanks to the CHOPPED students for their wonderful performance, professional outfits and awesome choreography!  Thanks also to their parents who came and supported them and helped Ms Moffatt and Mrs Linton with all the equipment. A special thanks to Rabhin's dad Jason, who transported a whole drum kit to and from the event!  The music department really appreciates all the support we receive from parents throughout the year.

Combined Band Day with Grovedale College

On Wed 26th Nov, BHS hosted a Combined Band event with Grovedale College. This was a great opportunity for the Beginning Band students to rehearse and perform some pieces together. They worked on “Alien Crossfire”, “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Shark Attack”, as well as some new pieces. They sounded fantastic! Many thanks to Ms Moffatt for organising this great event and to Mr Collinson (from Grovedale College), Mr Smith and Mrs Linton for assisting on the day. Thanks also to our student tutors: Jacinta, Jeren and Finn for helping the woodwind players. The students were treated to a pizza lunch (thanks to Music Support, Abigail Hodge-McAvaney and Ms Taft!) and a concert by CHOPPED band in the PAC. The combined bands then performed their pieces together. What a fabulous day and we hope to do this again in the future!

Upcoming Music Dates

Grade 6 Concert (Tuesday 2nd Dec- 5pm, PAC)

Over the last few weeks, our instrumental music staff have been busy after school teaching various musical instruments to local Grade 6 students. This will culminate in the Grade 6 Concert next Tuesday afternoon in the PAC. Students will rehearse together from 4pm then present a concert for families and friends from 5pm. If there are any BHS band students who are available to assist on the day (from 4-5:30pm) please let Ms Moffatt know. We look forward to hearing their first pieces as a band.  Thanks to Ms Moffatt for all her organisation of this program.

Primary Schools Music Tour- Monday 8th December (all day)

Senior Band Rehearsal for Awards Night- Tues 16th December at 10:30am in the band room.
