Welcome to our final Term 3 Library newsletter!
It’s hard to believe how quickly the past ten weeks have flown by. We kicked off the term with our annual Book Fair, celebrated Book Week with the Dress Up Parade, competitions and plenty of fun, and worked our way through the fantastic CBCA shortlisted titles. I’ve included some photos below that capture a few of the highlights from a very busy term.
As the term wraps up, Kindergarten and Stage 1 students are looking back at the books we’ve shared and choosing their favourite. They’re recreating the front cover and, most importantly, explaining why their book gets their vote. So far, top reasons include: it made me laugh, the illustrations are great, it’s silly, and it has a good message. A lovely way to finish a term full of stories!
After reading Dear Broccoli, students had some fun writing letters to the foods they’d happily never eat again! What food would be at the top of your ‘no thank you’ list?
Stages 2 and 3 have also been busy finishing off projects and activities from throughout the term. These have included Book of the Year-themed posters on Canva, reviews of CBCA-shortlisted books, postcards ‘from’ Paris, and research into local Gamileroi animals.
This week, students are enjoying The Everywhere Train by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell, the creators of the wonderful The Truck Cat. Students are looking for similarities between the two books and using visual literacy clues to work out which parts of the story are happening in the present and which are memories. It’s a beautiful story about family, ageing and what happens to our special memories over time. Best of all, it has prompted some lovely conversations and stories about grandparents and treasured family memories.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge has closed!
The Premier’s Reading Challenge has officially wrapped up for 2026, with an impressive 78 students completing the Challenge. It’s wonderful to see such a strong love of reading across our school!
Certificates and special awards will arrive towards the end of Term 4 and will be presented at assemblies and on Presentation Day. A big thank you to all the families who supported and encouraged their children along the way.

Holiday Reading @ HTS
The holidays might mean a break from school, but they don’t have to mean a break from reading! Students and families can keep enjoying great books at home through our school subscriptions to SORA and Storybox Hub.
SORA Books of the Week:
SORA has released its latest recommended reads for both Primary and Secondary students. Simply scan the QR code in the newsletter, use the SORA app, or access SORA online. Students will need their school username and password to log in (available from their classroom teacher). When searching for our library, select ACEN (Australian Catholic Education Network), not Holy Trinity School.
This week, celebrate the 20th anniversary of Peter H. Reynolds’ much-loved The Dot by exploring a collection of stories inspired by this wonderful book and its message of creativity and self-belief.
Storybox Hub: Prefer to listen and watch? Storybox Hub features Australian stories read aloud by a range of fantastic storytellers. Students can access it at home using our school login:

Local Library Fun
Don’t forget to visit the Inverell Town Library during the holidays. The team has put together a fantastic school holiday programme packed with activities to encourage reading, creativity and plenty of holiday fun.
