Foundation

Hello from the Sacred Heart birdwatchers! In Inquiry, the Foundation children have been learning about the different classifications of animals, what they need to stay alive and healthy and how we can protect them. Finding birds outside with 14 very excitable children was a challenge but when we moved quietly we managed to spy a few in our trees and playground. Next week, we’ll be creating bird boxes to help make the birds feel safe and protected. Attached are some photos from our birdwatching adventure and our Discovery Stations on Friday afternoon. We’ve got lots of busy vets, crafters, board game enthusiasts and chalk/whiteboard fanatics!  We wish all fathers, grandfathers, uncles, cousins and special friends a wonderful Father’s Day this Sunday. Year 1

Hi Families,

Wow… Week 8! How did we get here so quickly? 🌸 It has been another wonderful week of learning, exploring and growing together in our classroom.

In Maths, we have been busy discovering patterns. The children have been looking closely at what repeats, predicting what might come next and creating their own patterns using different materials and objects. It has been wonderful to see their little mathematicians’ minds at work! 🔢✨

Our garden continues to grow, although, just like nature, it is happening ever so slowly! 🌱 The children have been enjoying checking on our plants, noticing small changes and talking about what our plants need to stay healthy and grow. We are learning that sometimes the most exciting things take a little patience!

In Religion, we have continued exploring the beautiful Creation Story and learning about the many wonderful animals God created. The children have particularly enjoyed talking about their favourite animals and thinking about how we can care for and appreciate all of God’s creation. 🐘🦋🌏

A big Happy Father’s Day to all our wonderful dads, grandfathers and father figures. We hope you have a beautiful Sunday filled with love, laughter and some very special moments with your families. ❤️

Year 2

Hello Families,

We hope you all had a nice mid-week family day together. Learning;  In our short week together, we built a Tangram city with shapes, checked and tracked our plants growth.  We thought about our sick class friends. As a Book Week finale, we  finished  our class story ‘My mum is a Bird!” celebrating our mums talents and got a lovely Book Week bookmark. Celebrations; This Sunday, we wish all the dads  and family members a Happy Father’s Day and hope you love the gifts from our school Father's Day stall. Congratulations to Max, Lucas and me, winners of raffles. I will share my treats with the class. Reminders; Kindly reminders to complete swimming permission forms, this could be time to get all the swimming list prepared. Think about this message “teaching our children what counts is far more important than just teaching them to count “Have a fun filled weekend.

Year 3/4 AL

Hello families,

Our Inquiry learning has taken us into the fascinating world of bees! Students followed the bee’s journey from egg to larva, pupa and adult, learning why this is called complete metamorphosis. We also explored the vital role bees play in pollinating plants and supporting our environment. Students put their learning into action by creating and planting clay seed balls from our excursion to CERES and completing a bee audit around the school grounds.

Year 3/4T

Hello families, 

We have been buzzing with excitement in Inquiry as we learn about the life cycle of bees! We explored the stages of complete metamorphosis and discovered just how important bees are for pollinating plants and helping our food and ecosystems grow. At CERES, we made clay seed balls with a native plant, Warrigal Greens, and we have now planted them in our school garden (thanks Rebecca for the beautiful plant labels!) to create a bee-friendly space, we can't wait to see them grow (sneak peak  we spotted one of our seeds starting to come through!) 🌱 . We also made connections between our learning about bees and their life cycles by completing a bee audit in our schoolyard to see how many bees we could spot! 

Students enjoyed visiting our Father’s Day Stall and carefully choosing a special gift for the Dads, Grandpas, Uncles or important person in their lives. There was lots of excitement as they selected the perfect surprise to take home! Thanks so much to our parent helpers for running the stall and to our school community for all their generous donations.

Year 5/6J and Year 5/6M

The senior students in 5/6J and 5/6M were incredibly lucky to have Cody's pa, Pete, come and take the students for a basketball clinic. This is in preparation for a Basketball Carnival which takes place next week. Thanks Pete for sharing your knowledge and expertise...the kids loved it!

And another big shout out to two of our students, Kaone and Viraj, who are competing on Monday in the 200 meters and discus respectively. Congratulations to both students in representing our school and for performing so well to reach the next phase. Good luck!

And a final shout out to some of our Year 5 students Olivia, Audrey, Arvin and Georgia for assisiting with this week's Orientation session for our 2027 Foundation kids, we really appreciated your efforts and for wonderful, caring nature, making our new students feel welcome and safe!
