Cricket Victoria Free After School Sessions

🏏 FREE Cricket Opportunity – After School! (Prep – Grade 4)

We are excited to offer students the opportunity to take part in a FREE 4-week cricket program delivered by Cricket Australia!

The program will run after school for four weeks, with four one-hour sessions designed to introduce students to cricket in a fun and engaging environment.

• The final session will be held at Carnegie Cricket Club

CPS Sport

Term 3 has been a fantastic term for PE, with students enjoying a range of sports and developing their skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Our Juniors have been busy with Junior Athletics, T-Ball and Athletics, while our Seniors have taken part in Athletics, Ultimate Frisbee and Basketball.

A special congratulations to our Grade 3/4 students, who competed exceptionally well at the Grade 3/4 Ultimate Frisbee Gala Day at Fawkner Park on August 28th. Their teamwork, enthusiasm and positive attitude were fantastic to see!

We look forward to the Grade 5/6 Ultimate Frisbee Gala Day on September 11th and wish all our students the very best.

Finally, a big well done to all students selected as captains this term. We look forward to seeing you lead by example and support your teammates!

News from STEM

Across STEM, students have been building their confidence with Digital Technologies, learning how digital systems work and how we can use digital tools to create, communicate and solve problems.

In Prep and Year 1/2 STEM, students have been developing their understanding of digital devices and tools. Prep students explored what digital devices are and the different purposes they serve, while Year 1/2 students practised signing in with their school accounts and were introduced to Google Slides to create and present information.

In Year 3/4 STEM, students have been learning about user interfaces as part of Digital Technologies. They explored how user interfaces are the parts of digital systems that people see and interact with, including screens, buttons, icons, menus, images and text. Students also considered how layout, spacing, formatting and navigation can make an interface easier for different users to understand and use. Using Google Slides, they began creating their own app-style designs, applying these ideas to organise UI elements clearly and ensure each page serves a purpose, such as checking the weather. Their work samples show how they have combined functionality and creativity to design clear weather app pages.

In Year 5/6 STEM, students have begun a micro:bit coding unit using Python. They explored how text-based code gives instructions to a digital system, practised using the micro:bit Python Editor and simulator, and created scrolling name badges. They then developed repeating animations, such as a beating heart, by sequencing instructions, changing images and adjusting pause times. More recently, students designed custom 5 × 5 LED images using different brightness levels, helping them see how code can precisely control outputs. Throughout the unit, they have also practised testing, debugging and explaining how their programs work.
