Week 9 Greeting

As we reach Week 9, this will be our final newsletter for Term 3. It has been a term packed with exciting activities and opportunities for our students, with our most recent celebration being Undokai. This wonderful event highlighted the uniqueness of our school community and our strong connection with Japanese culture. It also provided our students with an authentic opportunity to use their Japanese language skills beyond the classroom while participating in a fun and meaningful cultural experience. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making Undokai such a successful and memorable event for our students.

第9週を迎え、今学期のニュースレターも今回が最後となりました。今学期は、子どもたちにとって楽しく充実した行事や活動がたくさんありました。その中でも、最近行われた運動会は、日本文化との強いつながりを持つ本校ならではの特色を感じられる素晴らしい行事となりました。また、子どもたちにとって、教室で学んでいる日本語を活用する貴重な機会にもなりました。子どもたちにとって楽しく思い出に残る運動会となるよう、ご協力いただいた皆様に心より感謝いたします。

Waseda University Visit

This week, we were delighted to welcome a group of visitors from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. The group consisted of one professor and 11 university students who are majoring in bilingual education. During their visit, they had the opportunity to observe our bilingual program and see our students learning and communicating in Japanese. Our visitors shared that they had previously visited a number of bilingual and immersion schools in the United States, China and England, but had never seen such a high level of language output from students. It was incredibly pleasing to receive such positive feedback from educators who have observed bilingual programs internationally. Their comments are a wonderful testament to the hard work, expertise and commitment of our teachers, as well as the efforts of our students in embracing bilingual learning every day.

今週、東京にある早稲田大学から、教授1名とバイリンガル教育を専攻する大学生11名の皆様を本校にお迎えしました。訪問中には、本校のバイリンガル教育を見学し、子どもたちが日本語を使って学習したり、コミュニケーションを取ったりする様子をご覧いただきました。訪問された皆様から、これまでアメリカ、中国、イギリスのさまざまなバイリンガル校やイマージョン教育を実施している学校を訪問し、これほど多くの日本語を子どもたちが実際に使っている様子を見たことがない、という大変嬉しい感想をいただきました。海外のさまざまなバイリンガル教育を実際に見てこられた方々から、このような高い評価をいただけたことを大変嬉しく思います。この言葉は、本校の教職員の日々の努力、専門性、そしてバイリンガル教育への熱意と、毎日の学習に一生懸命取り組む子どもたちの努力の成果を表すものだと大変誇らしく感じました。

Last Day of Term

Friday 18 September is the final day of Term 3. Please be reminded that there will be an early dismissal at 2:30 pm on this day. As we come to the end of another busy term, I would like to thank all of our families for your ongoing support and partnership throughout Term 3. We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break and wish all members of our school community a safe, relaxing and happy holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 4!

9月18日（金）は、Term 3の最終日です。当日は午後2時30分下校となりますので、今一度ご確認いただけますようお願いいたします。今学期も、保護者の皆様には学校のさまざまな活動や取り組みにご理解とご協力をいただき、大変ありがとうございました。休暇中は、ご家族でゆっくりと楽しい時間をお過ごしください。皆様が安全で充実した休暇を過ごされることを願っています。Term 4に、元気な子どもたちと再会できることを楽しみにしています。

Lost Property

Our lost property area near the student toilets is currently overflowing with items that have accumulated throughout the term. Before the end of Term 3, we encourage families to visit the lost property area if your child is missing any clothing, drink bottles, lunch boxes or other belongings. Please also remember to clearly label your child’s belongings, as this makes it much easier for lost items to be returned to their owners. Any items remaining in the lost property area after the last day of term will be removed, so please make sure to check the area before Friday afternoon.

現在、児童用トイレ付近の落とし物置き場には、今学期中に集まったたくさんの落とし物が保管されています。衣類、水筒、ランチボックス、その他色々なアイテムが保管されておりますので、Term 3終了前にぜひ落とし物置き場をご確認ください。また、落とし物を持ち主に返しやすくするため、お子様の持ち物には分かりやすく記名していただくようお願いいたします。今学期最終日を過ぎても残っている物については、落とし物置き場から撤去いたしますので、金曜日の下校時までにご確認ください。
