Hello from 3C

This term, we have been learning about living and non-living things. We were lucky enough to be gifted a chrysalis by one of our wonderful 3C families. Each day, we eagerly observed it, watching for changes in colour and hoping to catch it wiggling. After about a week, the butterfly emerged. On Tuesday morning, we came into the classroom to discover Lacey II (named by Aspen). She was a beautiful Australian Orange Lacewing butterfly.

Together with 3Q, we took Lacey II down to the farm to set her free. We wished her well as she flew off to find some pollen.

Did you know that butterflies taste with their feet? When they land on a flower, they can taste the nectar through their toes! They then use their long, straw-like tongue to sip it up.

After releasing Lacey II, we completed a craft activity to explore the life cycle of a butterfly. What an amazing experience we had!
