Together We Grow, Together We Glow!

Happy Easter Holidays

Easter holidays are a wonderful opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and spend meaningful time together as a family. Maintaining connection and creating small, intentional moments together can make a big difference to your child’s wellbeing.

Staying Connected

Connection doesn’t need to be big or expensive...it’s often the simple, consistent moments that matter most. Even 10–15 minutes of uninterrupted time together can help your child feel seen, valued, and secure.

Using the five senses is a powerful way to support regulation, connection, and enjoyment—especially for children who benefit from hands-on experiences.

Sight

  • Go on a nature walk and look for signs of autumn (leaves, colours, insects)
  • Create Easter crafts using bright colours and patterns
  • Build a “treasure hunt” with visual clues around the house or garden

Sound

  • Listen to music together and have a family dance session
  • Go on a “sound walk” and notice birds, wind, or city sounds
  • Read stories aloud and explore different voices for characters

Smell

  • Bake together (hot cross buns, Easter treats, or simple muffins)
  • Have a favourite scented candle burning during quite times i.e., watching a movie, craft
  • Create a calming space with familiar, comforting scents

Taste

  • Try cooking or preparing food together
  • Have a “taste test” challenge with different fruits or snacks
  • Share a picnic and talk about favourite foods

Touch

  • Sensory play (playdough, slime, sand, water play)
  • Gardening or digging in soil
  • Snuggling up for a movie with blankets and pillows

Holidays don’t have to be perfect. Some days will feel smooth, others may be challenging—and that’s okay. What matters most is that your child feels safe, connected, and supported.

Wishing all our Weeden Heights families a safe, happy, and restful Easter break. May it be filled with laughter, connection, and a lot of chocolate! 🍫
