Welcome back to all of our Year 8 students and families! We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing holiday break and is feeling refreshed for another exciting term of learning.
Term 3 is always a busy one, with plenty of opportunities for students to challenge themselves, get involved in school activities, and continue building on the great work they've already achieved this year. We encourage all students to approach the term with a positive attitude, stay organised, and make the most of every opportunity that comes their way.
We look forward to celebrating the achievements, growth, and successes of our Year 8 students throughout the term. Here's to another fantastic term together!
To kick off Term 3, all Year 8 students attended a series of assemblies designed to set them up for a successful term ahead. Throughout the week, students received important information about school expectations, upcoming events, attendance, behaviour, organisation, and the many opportunities available to them this term. These sessions reinforced the importance of demonstrating our school values of Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience, while ensuring every student has the knowledge and support they need to make the most of Term 3. We encourage all students to start the term positively by arriving on time, coming prepared with the correct equipment, and giving their best effort in every class. We look forward to seeing our Year 8 students continue to grow, achieve, and make positive contributions throughout the term.

As our Year 8 students begin thinking about their transition into Year 9 next year, we wanted to share an overview of what their timetable will look like in 2027. Students will continue studying the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and PE, while also having the opportunity to explore a range of elective subjects. Each semester, students will complete two electives, allowing them to experience different learning areas and discover new interests throughout the year. The timetable will consist of 25 sessions each week, with 19 core subject sessions and 6 elective sessions. We encourage families to start discussing elective options with their child as more information about subject selections becomes available later this year.

Our Year 8 students recently attended an assembly introducing a number of upcoming wellbeing opportunities available at the College. As part of the assembly, our Year 8 girls were invited to learn about Shark Cage, a seven-week program delivered by Anglicare Victoria. The program aims to empower young women by building confidence, self-esteem, and resilience while exploring topics such as healthy relationships, respectful communication, boundaries and consent, managing emotions, and personal safety. We look forward to seeing students who choose to participate grow in confidence and develop valuable life skills in a supportive environment. See more information on this page of our newsletter.

At the end of Term 2, a number of our Year 8 students were recognised at the High Achievers Assembly for their outstanding effort, commitment, and academic success throughout the semester. It was wonderful to see our students acknowledged for consistently demonstrating dedication, perseverance, and a positive attitude towards their learning. We are proud of their achievements and congratulate all students who received awards. Their hard work is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through determination and a willingness to always do their best.
