Principal's Message
Dear Parent and Carers,
This week, we welcomed our students back to the College for Term 3. It has been wonderful to see how positively they have settled back into their classes. I thank our students for arriving well prepared with their equipment, showing respect towards staff and their peers, and demonstrating a positive readiness to learn.
Students will also notice some refinements to our approach to supporting successful classroom learning. We began the term with year-level assemblies that reinforced our College values, expected learning behaviours and shared expectations, helping to establish consistent routines across the College. These refinements are designed to create a calm, focused, and respectful learning environment where students are well prepared to engage in their learning and reach their full potential.
Our core business is supporting both student learning and wellbeing. We recognise that, at times, some students require more targeted support to develop the learning behaviours that help them, and those around them, achieve success in the classroom.
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting every student to succeed, we are continuing to strengthen the range of supports available across our school. This term we have introduced the RESET Room. This initiative is designed to support students to engage successfully in their learning.
The RESET Room builds on the excellent work already being undertaken through our Year Level Hubs, Wellbeing Team, Inclusion Team, Clontarf and G@TC programs to support students' learning and wellbeing.
Students may be referred to the RESET Room when they require additional support to demonstrate our expected learning behaviours, including actively listening and following staff instructions, using calm, respectful and appropriate language, and allowing others to learn without disruption.
Rather than viewing these situations as punitive, the RESET Room provides students with an opportunity to reflect and participate in targeted learning that explicitly teaches and reinforces the behaviour skills needed to return to class ready to learn. Our aim is to ensure every student develops the skills, confidence and self-regulation needed to be successful learners while maintaining positive, productive learning environments for all.
We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with students and families as we strengthen a school culture where everyone is safe, respectful and ready to learn.
This week has also marked an exciting milestone for our Year 9 and 10 students, who have begun selecting their 2027 subjects with the support of Hub and Careers staff. This important process encourages students to explore their interests, consider future pathways and make informed decisions about their senior secondary studies.
I would like to congratulate our Year 11 students, Claudia and Cooper, who travelled to Papua New Guinea during the school holidays to complete the Kokoda Trail as recipients of the Arthur Grassby Kokoda Scholarship. Their commitment, resilience and willingness to embrace this significant experience are to be commended, and we look forward to hearing about their journey with our school community.
Looking ahead to next week, we are excited to welcome students and staff from our sister school, Yaei High School in Japan, to our College. They will spend the week immersed in our school community while staying with staff and host families. I would like to sincerely thank the families and staff who have generously opened their homes to support this exchange program. The visit provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn from another culture, strengthen international connections and build lifelong friendships. If you see our visitors around the College, please make them feel welcome.
