Education in Faith

First Eucharist

On Thursday 6 August, we celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist with our Year 4 students. It was a beautiful evening for our school and parish community as our communicants received Holy Communion for the first time. Congratulations to all of our students on this very special milestone in their faith journey. We are very proud of the reverence and enthusiasm they showed throughout their preparation and on the evening.

As part of their preparation, students also participated in a First Eucharist Retreat Day, filled with learning, prayer, reflection and fun. One of the highlights was making both leavened and unleavened bread. Students explored the significance of unleavened bread at the Passover meal and made connections to the Last Supper, when Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples.

Celebrating Our Faith

Last Friday, our school community gathered for a Whole School Mass celebrating the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. It was wonderful to come together to remember Australia's first saint and reflect on her life of faith, courage and service to others.

Today, we also marked the Feast of the Assumption of Mary with a special whole-school liturgy. Throughout the week, students have been learning about Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and why she holds such a special place in our Catholic faith. Well done to our students for the thoughtful and reverent way they participated in our Mass, liturgy and classroom learning.
