Book Week 2026 – Symphony of Stories
We are excited to celebrate Book Week 2026 with this year's inspiring theme,
"Symphony of Stories."
This year's theme reminds us that every book, character and voice is like a different instrument in a grand orchestra. Together, stories create a rich and joyful symphony of ideas, imagination and creativity. Whether a story is big or small, loud or quiet, every tale has something special to contribute, encouraging children to discover new perspectives and immerse themselves in the magic of reading.
Our school will celebrate Book Week on Wednesday 26 August with a Book Week Parade beginning at 9:00 am. Students are invited to dress as their favourite book character or wear a costume inspired by this year's theme, Symphony of Stories. Parents and families are warmly invited to join us for the parade and celebrate the creativity and enthusiasm of our students.
Throughout Book Week, students will read and explore a selection of this year's CBCA shortlisted books through engaging classroom activities, discussions and creative crafts. We are also looking forward to a special performance to launch our celebrations and bring the joy of stories to life.
We are excited to be hosting our Scholastic Book Fair again this year! Last year, our wonderful school community spent an incredible $4,000, which generated $800 in Scholastic rewards for our school. We used these rewards to purchase decodable fluency passages and class sets of Matilda, which are now being enjoyed by our students as part of our novel studies.
This year, we would love your support again as we work towards building our collection of quality maths resources and student books, including resources to complement our PRIME Maths program. Every book purchased through the Book Fair helps us to put more books and learning resources directly into the hands of our students. Thank you for supporting reading, learning and our school.
We have begun celebrating Book Week early with a fantastic performance from Perform Education. Our students from Prep-Year 4 enjoyed Something Special, an engaging musical adventure that brought stories from the 2026 CBCA Shortlisted Books to life through music, drama, movement and storytelling. Students were captivated by the characters and stories, and it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading and the power of imagination.
