Year 6- Sacrament of Confirmation

This Friday, 28 August at 5:00pm, our Year 6 students will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, a profound moment in their spiritual lives and the final sacrament of initiation in the Catholic Church.

This milestone marks their full initiation into the life of the Church, strengthening the grace first received at Baptism and deepened through the Eucharist.

Through the anointing with the sacred chrism and the laying on of hands, our students will be sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit,  gifts that will guide, inspire, and sustain them as they continue to grow as young disciples within our community. Their preparation has shown maturity, reflection, and a genuine desire to embrace their faith more deeply.

We hold each of our candidates in prayer as they receive this blessing. May the Holy Spirit fill them with courage, wisdom, and joy as they step forward in faith.

Fathers Day breakfast and prayer service 

Our school community is warmly invited to celebrate Fathers Day with a special morning of gratitude, fellowship, and prayer on Friday, beginning with a shared breakfast at 8:00am, followed by our Fathers Day Prayer Service at 8:50am, led 

by our Year 3–6 students.

Fathers Day is a treasured moment in our calendar,  a chance to honour the men who guide, protect, and nurture with quiet strength. As we gather, we also look to St Joseph, the father of Jesus, whose life reflects the virtues we see so often in the fathers and father‑figures of our own community.

St Joseph was a man of deep faith, humility, and courage. He listened attentively to God, protected the Holy Family, and modelled a love that was steady, selfless, and grounded in trust. His example reminds us that fatherhood is not only about providing but about shaping hearts, offering guidance, and being a source of calm strength.

We warmly invite all fathers and father‑figures to join us for this meaningful morning.

Crazy Hair Day Fundraiser 

On Tuesday 10 September, our school will be holding a vibrant and joy‑filled Crazy Hair Day to raise funds for our Charitable Works Fund (CWF). Students are invited to come to school with their most creative, colourful, or wonderfully wild hairstyles and bring along a gold coin donation to support this important initiative.

What is the Charitable Works Fund?

The Charitable Works Fund is a vital outreach arm of our Diocese. It supports a range of Catholic agencies and ministries that provide practical help, pastoral care, and essential services to people in need across our community. The CWF assists programs such as:

• CatholicCare – offering counselling, family support, and community services

• St Vincent de Paul – providing emergency relief, food assistance, and support for vulnerable families
• Aboriginal Catholic Ministry – strengthening cultural identity, faith, and community connections
• Ephpheta Centre – supporting the deaf and hard‑of‑hearing community
• Chaplaincy services – offering spiritual and pastoral care in hospitals, 
• prisons, and universities

These agencies rely on the generosity of our school communities to continue their mission of compassion, dignity, and hope.

How Our Students Can Help

By participating in Crazy Hair Day and contributing a gold coin donation, students are directly supporting people in our wider community who are facing hardship, isolation, or crisis. It’s a simple act that teaches our students the power of kindness and the importance of living out our Catholic values through action.
