S.T.E.A.M.

The STEAM room has been a buzz of activity this term, with Foundation to Grade 4 students experimenting with different types of forces, while our Grade 5/6 students have been exploring the fascinating world of light.

Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2

Students have enjoyed lots of hands-on experiments involving push and pull, as well as learning about buoyancy and gravity. Everyone has had fun exploring the different pushes and pulls involved with toys, and they are now putting their learning into practice by creating their own push-and-pull toy.

Grades 3/4

Students have been exploring forces using ramps to investigate momentum and friction. They have also discovered magnetic forces and investigated what happens when the north and south poles of magnets interact. Students are now using what they have learnt to design and build their own marble runs.

Grades 5/6

Our Grade 5/6 students have been exploring different aspects of light. They have learnt about light travelling in rays and how light can be bent. Students experimented with different materials to determine whether they were transparent, translucent or opaque. They also made their own periscopes to investigate how light reflects and explored refraction using objects placed in water.

It has been a busy and exciting term in the STEAM room, with plenty of experimenting, creating and discovering along the way!
