Senior School Update

With Mr John Thompson

The last fortnight has been a busy one in the Senior School, with students taking part in a number of academic competitions and representing the school well across a range of disciplines.

Chapel and Samoa Bake Sale

On Thursday we came together for Senior School Chapel, with themes of perseverance, support and using your talents shining through. Also on Thursday, we had our Bake Sale to support Ben and Riley in their fundraising efforts for their upcoming Samoa Service learning excursion, raising just over $750 for school supplies. A massive thanks to our school community for rallying around this event.

Assembly

At our Senior School Assembly in Week 3, we recognised and celebrated student achievement across a range of key areas such as growth and performance in NAPLAN, completion of First Aid courses, “Connected Learners" and our usual acknowledgement of student sporting achievements.  Congratulations again to our recipients who continue to make a positive contribution to the life of the school.

Peter Earns Prestigious Spirit of Anzac Prize

Year 11 student Peter Everingham has earned an incredible opportunity after being named as one of just 12 students across Victoria to receive the prestigious Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize!

The Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize provides young Victorians in Years 9–12 with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Australia’s wartime and peacekeeping history, while recognising the service and sacrifice of generations of Australians.

As one of this year’s recipients, Peter will take part in a fully funded study tour to Vietnam during the upcoming school holidays, visiting significant war heritage sites and gaining a deeper appreciation of Australia’s military history. The experience will also provide opportunities to connect with veterans and members of the ex-service community and learn more about the contribution of Victorian service people.

To be considered for the Prize, Peter completed a detailed application and submitted his CV, demonstrating his understanding of, and connection to, the characteristics and values embodied in the ANZAC legacy.

To be selected as one of only 12 students from across Victoria is an exceptional achievement and one of which our entire school community can be extremely proud of.

Congratulations Peter on this thoroughly deserved recognition. We look forward to hearing about your experience next term!
