Medical Pathways visit
11/12 students interested in Health careers attended an information presentation for Medical and Allied Health Pathways by Professor Lizzie Shires of the UTAS Rural Clinical School (RCS). It was a delight to have our LCS past student Charlotte Dove return to Leighland to share her journey toward studying Medicine at UTAS, and the positive opportunities her schooling at Leighland provided for her to achieve entry to study Medicine. Together, Professor Shires and Charlotte spoke about entry requirements, UCAT, related courses of study, and supports in place for students.
Charlotte was able to testify to the inclusive and positive learning environment she is experiencing at the UTAS Cradle Coast Campus where students are now able to study the full Bachelor of Medicine Science qualification.

VET Courses
VET courses have been off to a busy start this year, particularly with the courses delivered off-campus.
VET Construction Skill Set delivered by TasBGAS has 4 students enrolled who attend the workshop in Ulverstone each Thursday for a combination of Theory and Practical work. They are very eager, engaged and have really enjoyed starting the course.
Certificate II in Animal Care students attend St Brendan-Shaw College each Thursday in the onsite Animal Care Workshop which has been purpose built for the course. Practical work is often acquired through excursions to various Animal industry organisations and students have already visited Wings Wildlife Park twice to observe animal care and species for assignment work. Students were very engaged and busy taking notes for reference throughout their visits.
