The Finchiburras (Kookaburras 00A and Finches 00B) have continued to settle wonderfully into school life. Our classrooms are buzzing with learning, laughter and growing independence as students become more confident with their daily routines.
In Literacy, we have been busy exploring the letters t, a and p. Students have been spotting these letters in passages, practising correct handwriting formation and even building the letters using playdough. We have also been stretching and blending sounds together to read simple words like tap and pat. It has been fantastic to see students beginning to recognise sounds in words and proudly share their reading.

In Mathematics, we have been strengthening our subitising skills by quickly recognising small groups without counting. We also explored the numbers 4, 5 and 6 and began investigating length. Using handspans and string, students measured different objects around the classroom. One of the biggest highlights was comparing shoe sizes to find out who had the biggest shoes in the Finchiburra flock!

In Inquiry, we continued learning about our school values and talked about the importance of respecting our personal space. We read a wonderful story about our “body bubble” and created our own body bubbles to remind us how we can help everyone feel safe and comfortable at school.

You can support your Finchiburra at home by practising the sounds for t, a and p, looking for these letters in books or around the house, and having fun blending simple words. In Maths, you might play quick games spotting groups of objects or measure items around the house using handspans.
Thank you for continuing to support our wonderful little Finchiburras as they learn and grow!
