Hello to all Clayton North Primary families and friends,

We have now entered the second half of Term 1 and it has been a pleasure getting to know more families during the early stages of the year. Our students have settled well into the new year and are strengthening their understanding of new classroom routines and expectations.

We have many exciting events ahead this term so I encourage you to regularly check Compass for school updates and notifications of what is occurring and upcoming at CNPS.

Our school values

From the beginning of the term, teachers have placed a strong emphasis on developing students' understanding of, and ability to demonstrate our three school values of respect, resilience and responsibility. I have also discussed this with students at assembly, with a particular focus on the value of respect. It has been pleasing to see students able to give examples of what respect looks like at school, and how they can show respect towards their teachers and peers.

NAPLAN 2026

Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will take part in NAPLAN assessments during March. The assessments measure key skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy.

NAPLAN provides a snapshot of student learning and helps schools understand how students are progressing in these important areas. It is just one of many ways we assess student achievement.

Students will complete tests online (except Year 3 writing), and teachers have implemented practice NAPLAN tests to support students to become familiar with the online platform. We encourage students to simply do their best.

Families can help by ensuring children are well rested, have had a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time during the testing period. Results will be shared with families later in the year.

Please see our NAPLAN schedule below.

Smile Squad

The Smile Squad team from Link Health and Community are coming to our school. Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program. This means ALL students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.

Parental/guardian consent is required for students to access this service. To register your child to access this service please use the following link: https://bit.ly/smilesquadvic

Paper copies of the consent form can also be requested at the office, if needed. Please complete and submit the consent form by 2nd April 2026.

Mathletics and Reading Eggs

A reminder to families that this year we will be continuing with the Mathletics and Reading Eggs platforms to support our students in developing their English and Mathematical understanding.

For families who would like to access these platforms, each subscription costs $20 which can be paid via Compass. Currently we have just over 50% of families who have subscribed to both programs. At present, all students have access to Mathletics and Reading Eggs. After next week, students who have not paid, will lose their access to the platforms. It would be great to have all students accessing these valuable learning platforms.

Have a wonderful long weekend, everyone!
