Girls SAPSASA Netball Carnival 2025

On Monday 5th May, the selected team of Year 5/6 girls attended a Netball Carnival at Netball SA Stadium. The day ran a round-robin style competition to see which schools would progress to the next stage of the SAPSASA knockout netball competition. The first part of the carnival saw the girls play three games against Mawson Lakes Primary School, St Pius and St Martin’s College. The games consisted of two ten-minute halves. Magill had a fantastic start to the day, winning all 3 games for their group and progressing through to the finals.

The results for the morning session:

Game 1: Magill (5) defeated Mawson Lakes (4)

Game 2: Magill (13) defeated St Pius (5)

Game 3: Magill  (13) defeated St Martin’s (7)

Finishing top of their group, the girls progressed to the finals. The first final was against Trinity Gardens Primary School. The results were not in Magill’s favour, with Trinity winning the game. The final match of the day was against Pulteney Grammar. Despite another fantastic win, Magill unfortunately missed out on progressing to round 2 of the competition.

The results for the finals were as follows:

Final 1: Trinity Gardens  (12) defeated Magill (6)

Final 2: Magill (6) defeated Pulteney Grammar (3)

The day presented a high level of skills and team spirit shown by all teams, making for a fun and competitive day of play.

Excellent effort and enthusiasm were shown throughout the day. Some fantastic defending was shown by Savannah P and Cara B. Quick speed and run through mid court presented by Anna V, Bella Y, and Olivia C, and some precise shooting from Asha L, Jayla L, and Miranda B. It is an absolute pleasure coaching the girls and witnessing their commitment to training and working as a team. An excellent day and results, four out of five wins is an amazing effort, and despite not progressing through to the next round, the girls should be proud of themselves and the effort shown in the lead-up and on the day.
