Good Luck at Beachside Track & Field

Over 30 students will be representing Chelt.Sec in Track and Field events on Monday 26th August. These students came first place in their events at our House Athletics Carnival earlier this year.  The group will travel to Sandringham Athletics Club for the whole day event. Mr Gibson and Ms Hargreaves are excited at the number of team members who have shown enthusiasm and interest in filling places in other events.  We look forward to a fun day outdoors.

Interschool  Sport 

Thank you to all the participants in junior sport this term. Year 8 (2nd August) and Year 7 (15th August) took part in Basketball, Table Tennis and Futsal. We also had Southern Metro Region finals for Junior Boys Netball, Year 8 Girls Netball, Year 8 Girls Badminton and Intermediate Girls Netball. Overall Chelt.Sec had over 140 students participating in sport, in August alone. Thank you to all of the staff for their valuable assistance. 

Congratulations to our Year 8 Girls Netball team, who came Runners Up in the Southern Metro Regional competition.

Our Year 7 basketball teams appreciated the support of senior students Jacob, Dylan, Rudi and Brodie, without their team organisation and preparation it would have been impossible to have four teams on the court. Having the senior students step-up into these roles has an added bonus of creating connections within the college, we hope our Year 7 students enjoyed the experience. 

2024 Basketball Academy

Both of the Chelt.Sec Academy Basketball teams are having an outstanding Winter season. Our Year 7 team, in under 14s, are sitting on top of the ladder, with just two rounds left in the regular competition. Our Year 8 team, in under 16s, are looking to recover the top spot in their last two games before finals, having dropped a game needing to forfeit. We wish both teams every success in their finals series. 

Chelt.Sec would love to see girls in our academy sports teams. The boys are currently training with their Basketball Coach on Mondays after school and are competing in the McKinnon Basketball Association Winter Competition on Saturdays. Please contact Karly Hargreaves with any questions.
