College Production - Mamma Mia!

A message from a cast member  |  A message from the Director/Stage Manager  |  Photos

Our school production of Mamma Mia! has recently wrapped up, and it has truly been one of the most rewarding journeys throughout my time at Cheltenham Secondary College. It created a sense of community among the cast and crew that not only led to new friendships, but also strengthened current ones with the shared experiences of weekly rehearsals, backstage moments, and the thrill of entertaining an audience. Our team worked so hard to ensure all four of our shows sold out, and it was gratifying to watch our auditorium fill up every night. The overwhelming engagement and encouragement was our anchor and it made the experience unforgettable.

We have had the most incredible team. We’ve laughed together, we’ve learned together, and we’ve grown together. It was an honour to share this experience with each individual who brought something unique and special to the production. Performing has a way of bringing people together, and serves as a reminder that with dedication, passion, and teamwork, we can create something truly special. For that, we will all be forever grateful.    - Ellie M. who played Sophie

Mamma Mia! 2024 was one of those experiences you can only hope for as a teacher. A glorious moment in time when all the disparate elements needed for something magical to occur appear so forcefully and brilliantly that, with distance, you can only shake your head and smile at how fortunate you were to have been a part of it.

I’ve been shaking my head a lot.

Our wonderful cast representative of every year level in the college, anchored by a supremely talented Year 12 group, brought limitless energy and enthusiasm to each and every rehearsal and performance. Our production team of Laura Knox, Christian Meyer, Anita Marcou, Campbell H., Annelise Scott and Karly Hargreaves brought their A-game to all facets of the production and our wonderful Chelt.Sec staff, too numerous to mention individually, made sure this show was able to shine.

Our Year 12s will soon leave us, and Laura Knox and Annelise Scott have already done so. Rather than be sad, we can be comforted by the knowledge that we shared a Super-Trouper moment where the beams really did shine bright.
