LTU Regional Pathways Program Update

Albury-Wodonga Campus

The Regional Pathways Program is a regional initiative that aims to address the disparity in higher education participation and attainment between regional and metropolitan areas. It focuses on increasing educational engagement among senior secondary school students by providing them with workshops on topics such as study skills, literacy support, wellbeing, and career pathways including university.

Vision:

Our goal is to improve educational outcomes for regional students and increase community awareness of the positive impact further education has on local development.

This Week's Workshop

With VTAC applications opening last week, the Regional Pathways Program team delivered a workshop discussing topics around VTAC, UAC, and financial commitments and supports related to university.

The students were engaged in the discussions, and had some insightful questions that helped direct conversations in ways that could help them.

University Open Days

University Open Days are continuing to run throughout the month of August. Open Days are a great opportunity for students and their families to see university campuses and potentially meet some of the teaching staff before the student makes a decision about where they will go to university.

Importance of Considering Pathway Options

It is important to consider pathway options for a 'dream' course, in case things potentially don't go to plan during the final years of high school study. It is quite common for students to begin with a pathway course, so this is why it can be good to consider the options early.

La Trobe University has a Pathways Finder website where you can indicate the course you are interested in, and it will provide pathway course options. The pathway course options that are generated also include information about how you can pathway in to your 'dream' course, and how much extra time would be added to your overall study period. There are also direct links to the pathway courses where you can find more information, as you need.

To utilise the La Trobe University Pathway Finder, follow this link: Pathway and Entry Program Finder | La Trobe University

Another option for current Year 11 and 12 students is to apply for Early Entry Programs, such as the La Trobe University Aspire Year 11 Conditional Early Entry: Year 11 Early Entry | La Trobe University. Applications for the Year 11 Conditional Early Entry close on the 6th of September, 2024.
