Project Compassion & Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday, 4th March, marks the beginning of Project Compassion. Project Compassion is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, a time to be the good news for the poor.

Project Compassion works to raise awareness and funds to help those in need. This year we focus on the story of three; Toefuata’iga (Samoa), Lam (Vietnam) & Irene (Democratic Republic of Congo).

Shrove Tuesday helps us to prepare for Lent. The day was known for eating the rich items that wouldn’t be indulged in during Lent, like eggs, milk, butter and flour. To use up those items our Parents and Friends Committee made pancakes for the students to enjoy.

Ash Wednesday

We celebrated Ash Wednesday as a community as Fr Caldow lead a mass where we reflected on the beginning of Lent. We all received ashes on our forehead as a symbol of the prayerful, somber day. It begins a period of almsgiving, fasting and prayer.
