Numeracy

This term - Year 5 students in Numeracy will be focusing on:

• Fractions - adding and subtracting fractions
• Angles - measuring and drawing angles. Constructing shapes and identifying polygons.
• Decimals - rounding and expanding decimal numbers. Solving problems involving decimals.
• Measurement - accurately measuring and comparing mass, length and capacity.
• Location - Identifying and plotting coordinates on a Cartesian plane.

Year 6 students in Numeracy will be focusing on:

• Fractions - Ordering, adding, subtracting, simplifying and solving problems with fractions and mixed numbers.
• Angles - Identifying and calculating complementary, supplementary and unknown angles. Solving problems involving angles.
• Decimals - Multiplying and dividing decimal fractions.
• Measurement - Converting, identifying and solving problems involving length, mass and capacity.
• Location and transformation - Identifying and placing negative numbers on a number line. Reading, plotting and transforming shapes on a Cartesian plane.
