Term 4 is always an exciting term. It is full of hope and expectations as attention turns towards final reporting and assessments at all year levels. Our Year 12 students experience the success of finally finishing year 12 and quickly turn their attention towards their final exams.

The year 12 final day was a huge success. The whole school came together to celebrate our graduating year 12s. Our school captains spoke beautifully and special guest David Lord returned to share in the celebrations. Following the assembly students enjoyed a fun afternoon at Kingpin in the city.

Year 12 Staughton Assessment Excellence Awards

Earlier this term we had our inaugural Staughton Assessment Excellence Awards presented to year 12s. The top achieving year 12 student from each subject received an award and a gift card to celebrate and reward their hard work and excellence.

There was a strong celebratory atmosphere, lots of clapping and cheering. The year 12s formed a perimeter around the brick work in yard 2 and recipients did a lap of honour. It was a fantastic sight to see.

Arts/Tech Showcase and Cultural Family Picnic

Congratulations to all involved with this years Art/Tech Showcase and Cultural family picnic. It takes a huge amount of organisation and effort to make an event like this happen. This event is one of the signature events of our school year. I truly love that we get to celebrate the fantastic creative work of our Art and Technology curriculum areas AND celebrate that our Staughton family is made up of a mix of many cultures and backgrounds.

This event allows us to showcase all our students interests and talents. We take great pride in the fact that this event is a great example of what our students can do. At this event we see culture and talent celebrated through performing and visual arts.

Over the years this event has really evolved, and I love that our students play a key part in running the event. I am very proud of the efforts of all our students who are participating. I would also like to thank the many staff involved in organising the event in particular:

Child safe

In response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Reponses to Child Sexual Abuse, all schools are required to implement minimum Child Safety Standards. At Staughton College, we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. We have fully implemented all of the standards, including a Child Safe Policy and Code of Conduct. Both of these documents can be found on our website. I will be regularly reminding our school community of these policies as part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care.

Building update

Things are slowing moving with our big build. Over the last week we have had some movement of old portables to make room for a new double story portable that should be up and running for the start of next year.

VCE VM Market Day

Congratulations to our VM students who have completed their market day earlier this term. Their enthusiasm and dedication made this event a resounding success! VM Market day is a significant event tied to the VCE VM curriculum where students are able to demonstrate a range of competencies required for their course completion.

Rewards Day 7 - 9

With Term 4 off and away there is not long left until Rewards Day. On the 15th December the best of the best Staughton College students will be afforded a 'Big Day In' to celebrate their academic effort and outcomes from across Semester 2. The day will be held here on site with tonnes of free pizza, lollies and slushies to enjoy - all whilst watching some newly released films. In order to be eligible for this event students must demonstrate learning progress across all subject areas as well as achieving Always or Often across all learning behaviours. When conferencing with students in class, and chasing up learning interactions, teachers will be reminding students of Rewards Day to incentivise student academic outputs.

Parent Teacher Student Conferences

On Monday we had parent teacher student conferences. It was fantastic to see staff and families sharing student learning progress as I walked around the rooms.
