2023 Sports Awards
It has been another amazing year of sport for Team sVc. With over 80% of our students actively engaged in at least one sport or co-curricular activity this year, Team sVc is thriving at an all-time high. With over 32 sports and activities on offer, there is no doubt that St Virgil's College is a leader in this area and provides some outstanding opportunities for our students outside of the classroom and curriculum studies.
None of these opportunities would be possible if it wasn't for the dedication and tremendous support from our teachers and College staff, every day of every week.
Whilst we have had some tremendous team results over the year, at our Term 4 Assembly, we celebrated individual achievements in their chosen sport.

Rowing
Over 40 Year 6, 7 and 8 students participated in their first rowing regatta for the year at New Town Bay last weekend. The event, which was jointly run by St Virgil's and The Friends School saw over 250 rowers take to the water outside of the St Virgil's New Town Bay Rowing Centre. There were plenty of smiles and some great racing. Thank you to volunteer coaches and boat drivers for making the day a success. Well done Team sVc.
Tennis
Another stellar performance by Year 7 Student Athlete Charlie Marsden whilst representing Tasmanian at the 2023 Bruce Cup in Brisbane. Well done Charlie.
Cricket
Good luck to our Year 7/8 cricket teams as they come into the final two weeks of the SSATIS season before finals. A reminder that once signed up to a team, it is an expectation that all boys attend each week unless their coaches are notified and a valid reason is provided. Let's finish the roster strong with competitive teams on the field each week.
The Year 9/10 students are currently participating in three T20 practise matches against Hutchins at the WMO. We thank The Hutchins School for hosting these important lead up matches. Upcoming fixtures for the Year 9/10/11 (1st XI) are as follows:
Coyle - Clingeleffer Cup
Year 9 match only
St Virgil's College vs St Patrick's College Launceston
Wednesday 15 November
Clare Street, New Town
SATIS State Wide T20 Tournament
