From Your P&F

Hi Parents and Carers, the next meeting of the P&F is fast approaching. This year’s committee is very much looking forward to a big turnout and generating plenty of buzz about the biggest P&F event of the year the Walkathon. Please see below notice of meeting. If you would like to get involved in the preparation and execution of the walkathon or input into your P&F activities, please let us know and we would love to see you at the next meeting.

Notice of Meeting

NOTICE OF GENERAL MEETING of the Marist College Ashgrove Parents and Friends Association

MONDAY 20 July 2026 at 6:00pm

Location: The Tower Building

Requests for agenda items can also be sent to the P&F Secretary. We ask if these can be submitted by Monday 6 July 2026 to allow for adequate preparation.

We appreciate Monday evenings are often busy, but at previous meetings we have struggled to achieve reasonable attendance. The P&F is a parent-run association, without your involvement it is difficult to plan and deliver the fundraising and community activities that ultimately benefit your boys. We would be grateful if you could please mark our next meeting in your calendar and join us if at all possible.

Getting involved with P&F is a wonderful way to foster strong connections with your Marist family across your journey at the College. Our Association enjoys stability through the generosity of many capable hands, carrying jobs of all shapes and sizes. We are sure you would enjoy volunteering through our various activities and sub-committees that all help to make our Marist family the special community that it is.

Sports Canteens 23 May 2026

We continue to need your help for the biggest term of the year. This week the Senior School is hosting St Lawrences in what is sure to be one of the biggest canteen days of the year. The sports canteens are only able to operate when parents volunteer their time, and even one hour makes a real difference. In particular, we will need plenty of volunteers at the Grandstand canteen from 11am till 3pm. If you have a son playing sport at home, we’d love to see you for just one hour in the Flats or Grandstand canteens, or the Coffee Van this coming Saturday 23 May.

This week we’re asking our Year 11 and 12 parents to lead the way. If we get enough volunteers, we can keep both canteens open across all the games. Of course, help from parents across all year levels is always welcome and greatly appreciated.

Last Saturday only the flats canteen was open, and we were still not able to fill all spots.  Thank you to everyone who jumped in to help. The Flats coffee machine continues to be a crowd favourite and will be operating again this week.

A big thank you once again to all our volunteers and to the small group of parents who continue to go above and beyond every week. If you haven’t yet experienced working the canteen, grab a friend, sign up together and enjoy the College culture, you won’t regret an hour well spent. Year 11 and 12 parents, this could be your last opportunity to show the parents of the younger cohorts what Marist spirit is all about.

Remember - Just one hour a term if you have a son playing sport really does make all the difference to keeping this much-valued service open for our Marist and AIC communities. This makes Saturday more manageable for all our home and visiting families, provides directions for many a lost visiting player, covers a not-so-surprising number of ‘ohhhhhhh …. I forgot my water bottle' events, and provides funds in support of school projects.

Don’t forget - Students can also volunteer in the Sports Canteens under the Mates program:

  • Years 11 and 12 can Sign-Up and serve without a parent/guardian
  • Year 5-10 can Sign-Up and serve alongside a parent/guardian
  • Counter service only – no grills, or deep fryer
  • Students need to be in uniform
  • On completion of the shift, students need to register their time using the QR code available in each canteen. (Another volunteer or a member of the canteen staff can access the form if student does not have a phone.)
