Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 3, Term 4.
Coming back to school 2 weeks ago, I was again reminded of the incredible kindness and compassion of our students, with so many checking in on my wellbeing following the mountain biking accident I had in the holidays. I feel privelaged to work with these students and our staff every day.
World Teachers' Day
Last week, our SRC's 'Dress as a Teacher' Day was a great deal of fun, with some interesting role reversals playing out through the day. It was a great way to both celebrate World Teachers' Day and raise a bit of money to support the resourcing of school wellbeing programs.
New England Sings!
Congratulations to all students who performed in the New England Sings! concert yesterday. Thank you to Mrs Porter, Mrs Farmer, Mrs Lawrence and Mrs Howlett for giving up their weekend in support of our students' participation in this event. Thank you to families for making our involvement possible by transporting students to and from UNE.
Debating champions
Congratulations to our debating team, who following a streak of 7 undefeated debates in the Premier's Debating Challenge, have been crowned Regional Champions. From over 1000 teams that entered the competition this year, our Ben Venue Gold team is one of only 10 remaining in the competition and will now travel to Sydney to compete at the State Championships. This is the second year running our team has qualified for the state finals. Well done team!
Bike Bus
Our Bike Bus rides again this term, each Wednesday and Friday, starting this week! The bus will roll out from Curtis Park at 8.15 am on both days and will go to the same location by 3.30 pm. The Curtis Park Bike Bus will be the only bus operating this term. Safe and functional bikes as well as helmets are required to ride with the Bike Bus.
Contact with families
A core component of our approach to student wellbeing and motivation is contact between class teachers and home. As part of our annual review, I am collecting data on positive contact received by families via this one-question survey. If you could take 20sec to complete the survey I would appreciate it.
