An exciting few weeks of sport at St Columba’s!

Swimming

A team of students has represented our school during the swimming season at Holt District (16th March) and some progressed to Beachside District Swimming (24th March).

Year 6 - Sabine, Xander, Iggy, Poppy, Anna, Claude, Zoe, Ollie, Issy and Ashley F

Year 4 - Spartak, Amalia, George and Percy

Year 3 - Jagger, Lilly, Stella, Alex, Levi and Clarissa

They were up against some pretty tough competition from other competing schools and although the races were close, unfortunately, only one competitor went through to the next level in each category.  Therefore, it is a VERY big deal that George (Yr 4) has progressed to the South Metro Regional Carnival, not only by winning his race but by setting a new record in Freestyle Multiclass!  We are very proud of him and the efforts of all the students who represented our school throughout the swimming events as respectful and courageous competitors.

St Columba’s Athletics Carnival

What an exciting day for our school community! It was great to see such a big turnout of supporters.

A special mention and thanks to the many parent helpers we had on the day. Apologies if you emailed me to offer help and I didn't receive it (this issue is being rectified). As a smaller school, we rely on the extra help and it is very much appreciated.

A huge thank you to staff and students. Staff went out of their way to help, taking on extra duties and supporting students.

Following in their footsteps were our students, particularly our Year 6 leaders, mentoring the rest of the school, including our new Preps, on warming up, competing, house colour chants and how to build a very impressive human welcome tunnel.

We were extremely proud of the respectful competitors that our students were on the day and especially of those who refused to give up, even though they were exhausted!

The final tally of house points was:

Phillip (Blue) 297

Ormond (Red) 275

Elster (Yellow) 290
