Preps are developing their colour knowledge as they design unique collages of the sun inspired by UK artist Clare Youngs. Students created painted backgrounds using texture tools, then they are choosing painted papers to complete their beautiful artworks! Preps are being Risk-takersby trying new tools and textures, and Thinkers as they make choices about design and composition.

Year 1s have worked on group tablescapes, using oil pastels to draw a place setting and meal that they share at home, reflecting on their family traditions, cultural backgrounds, and daily lives. This highlights the importance of family connections, belonging, and routines, helping students understand how relationships shape their lives, and connects to their Who We Are Unit of Inquiry.
Year 2s have been exploring printmaking, symmetry and colour theory as they using a folding monoprint technique to create a detailed symmetrical insect with a warm or cool chalk background. Students show their individuality through their choice of colours, shapes, and details—highlighting that we all see and represent the world differently.
Year 3s are currently exploring printmaking inspired by Nongirrna Marawili (Arnhem Land). They have cut their own stencils and are printing with mixed tints to create stunning abstract artworks. Through this technique, students begin to recognise that art can carry meaning, stories, and cultural significance, encouraging respect for different ways of knowing and expressing identity.
Year 4s have been working on a challenging printmaking technique! They designed a citiscape skyline, drew it firmly into a printing plate, then used black paint to transfer it onto a watercolour background. This detailed printmaking technique requires persistence and planning, helping students understand themselves as capable, resilient learners who can tackle challenges!
Year 6s have completed their still life paintings inspired by Australian artist Linda Kruger. They observed how light (energy) interacts with objects (matter), using those observations to create realistic 3D images. Stunning work!
