The students are really enjoying the fashion unit this term. Thank you to all the families that have sent their children to school with old t-shirts and other clothing items. They are being totally transformed! The fashion theme is upcycling, so we are turning old clothes into something new and different.

The Prep - 2 classes have been drawing designs on their t-shirts and using black markers to define their artwork. They have also used paint to add definition and colour. Students have worked on the front and back of the t-shirts. We will also be gluing items onto their clothing. Students will also be making fashion hats and other accessories to coordinate with their t-shirts.
Students in years 3 - 6 are having an amazing time creating original and highly creative upcycled fashion clothing. Students are exploring hand stitching, cutting, fringing, tie dying, painting and drawing on their clothing. So many original designs in the making!
Students continue to be inspired by fashion designer Vivienne Westwood who is currently exhibiting at NGV. Westwood's work features examples of upcycling using byproducts of the fashion industry to create new and inventive fashion designs.
Westwood innovations are inspiring students to become sustainable designers and to rework old clothes and to transform garments into modern and unique fashion pieces. This reduces waste, encourages creativity, and promotes sustainable styles.
