Year 3/4 Mainstream

Year 4 Poetry
During the NAPLAN period, our Year 4 students completed a short poetry unit. Students explored a variety of forms—including Found Poetry, Acrostics, Haikus and Cinquains—balancing specific text structures with complete creative freedom. It was a powerful, engaging experience that culminated in students sharing their original work with one another, ensuring every child found success as a writer.
Maths Design
In our Mathematics sessions, students have been busy mastering the concepts of area and perimeter. To bring these skills to life, 3/4 students took on the role of urban planners, designing community plots such as parks, schools and shopping centres as part of our Integrated Unit. Using square units, students meticulously planned and drew their designs, applying addition and multiplication strategies to calculate the exact dimensions of their buildings and landscapes. We are incredibly impressed by the students' ambition; many challenged themselves by incorporating irregular shapes and diverse concepts to ensure their community designs were both functional and creative.
