A Reminder About School Procedures
As we look ahead to Term 4, we would like to provide a reminder about staff communication, morning arrival and afternoon pick-up procedures. These arrangements help us ensure students are appropriately supervised, traffic is managed safely and our teachers have the time they need to prepare for a successful school day.
Staff Working Hours and Communication
Our teachers’ designated working hours are:
- Mondays and Fridays: 8:30am–3:30pm
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays: 8:30am–4:30pm
We understand that parents and carers may need to contact teachers throughout the school day. However, teachers have multiple classes, teaching responsibilities, meetings and other commitments, so they are not always able to respond immediately.
We ask that families allow 24–48 hours (two school days) for a response to parent communication during normal working hours. We appreciate your patience and understanding if a response is not immediate.
For urgent matters, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or the Principal by phoning the school office on 03 5744 3339.
We also ask families to respect our teachers’ work-life balance. Staff are not expected or required to read or respond to parent emails outside their designated working hours or on weekends, unless there is a genuine emergency. For the privacy and wellbeing of our staff, teachers are also advised not to respond to school-related matters through social media, personal phone calls or personal text messages. All school communication should be directed through appropriate school channels, such as the school office or teacher email.
Morning Arrival – From Term 4
From the beginning of Term 4, students will not be permitted on school grounds or in the school building before 8:30am, unless they are arriving by town bus or are participating in Running Club. The playground and classrooms will remain closed until staff supervision commences.
We have confirmed with our bus companies that town buses arrive from approximately 8:26am. To accommodate students travelling by bus, the gates at the bus stop will be opened as the buses arrive, allowing bus travellers to enter the school grounds safely.
Students who arrive before 8:30am by other means will need to wait in the undercover area outside the front entrance until staff supervision begins. Students should not be left unsupervised in the playground or elsewhere on school grounds before this time.
Our teachers’ working day begins at 8:30am. When staff choose to arrive earlier, they do so voluntarily to prepare classrooms, complete planning and attend to the many tasks required before students arrive. This preparation time is important in ensuring teachers are ready to provide students with the supervision, care, support and learning experiences they need throughout the school day.
Our school office hours are 8:30am–4:30pm, which reflects the times our administration team is available to assist families.
The only other exception to the 8:30am arrival time is Friday mornings for students participating in Running Club, which commences at 8:00am. Students attending Running Club will be supervised as part of that program.
We appreciate families supporting these arrangements and ensuring children arrive at school from 8:30am onwards, unless they are travelling on a town bus or participating in Running Club. These expectations support the safety and wellbeing of our students while also ensuring our staff have appropriate time to prepare for the school day.
Afternoon Pick-Up – Drive-Through
A reminder that cars are not to enter the drive-through for end-of-day pick-up prior to 3:14pm.
This procedure was introduced earlier this year in response to ongoing concerns about traffic congestion and unsafe driving practices around the Woods Road/Orr Street roundabout and surrounding areas during afternoon pick-up.
We would like to thank our families for adhering to this procedure, as it has made a noticeable difference to traffic congestion and the flow of afternoon pick-up. We ask that we continue to work together by not arriving at the drive-through before 3:14pm.
Students are not dismissed until 3:15pm, and staff supervise the drive-through from 3:15pm until approximately 3:30pm, or until all students have been collected. There is therefore no need to arrive before 3:14pm.
These procedures are in place to support the safety of our students, families, staff and the broader community. We appreciate your continued cooperation and ask all families to follow these arrangements moving forward.
Zooper Dooper Term 4 Fundraiser
We really appreciate all of our students who supported our recent Father’s Day Stall, and a very special thank you to Casey Parker and her amazing team of volunteers who generously gave their time to make the stall such a success. Together, they raised an incredible $1,900!
We’re looking forward to putting these funds back into our school and creating more opportunities and experiences for our students.
When school returns in Term 4, we’ll be making the most of Mondays when the canteen is closed by bringing back our Zooper Dooper Monday Fundraising!
Zooper Doopers will be available for $1 at recess and lunchtime, with all proceeds going towards our next fundraising project. Students will then be invited to choose what they would most like us to purchase with the funds raised.
Our recent purchase of the outdoor table tennis tables is already proving to be a fantastic addition, with plenty of students enjoying the opportunity to play, connect and have fun together.
