Literacy

We have been enjoying Jackie French’s novel Tom Appleby, Convict Boy. The story follows young Tom through the harsh realities of life in eighteenth-century England and his journey towards becoming a convict bound for Australia. Along the way, we have explored important themes including courage, hope, friendship, survival and resilience.

In Literacy, we are currently working on Single Paragraph Outlines (SPOs). Students are learning to identify a key idea from a chapter, support it with evidence from the text, and explain the outcome or significance of that evidence. Here are some examples of the wonderful work our students have produced.
