School Council Update

As we come to the end of another busy term and another semester of learning, I would like to thank our staff, students and families for the many ways they contribute to making Bimbadeen such a wonderful community.

One of the strengths of School Council is the work undertaken by our sub-committees, much of which happens quietly behind the scenes. This month, I would like to acknowledge the work of our Buildings and Grounds Sub-Committee, which continues to oversee projects and maintenance that help keep our school safe, welcoming and enjoyable for all students.

I know many children will be excited to hear that work on our new sandpit will begin during the holiday break. Designed to be enjoyed by all students, the space will include accessible pathways, raised play features and a wheelchair-accessible play platform, creating a wonderful new space for imaginative play and connection. The addition of interactive play benches will allow students to play, collaborate and connect with their peers in a shared environment where everyone can participate together. We look forward to seeing it come to life in Term 3.

Our Student Learning Sub-Committee has also been busy reviewing and updating a range of important policies relating to student health and wellbeing, including anaphylaxis, asthma, administration of medication, health care needs and attendance. These regular reviews help ensure our policies remain current and continue to support the safety and wellbeing of all students. Families can view these policies at any time via the Bimbadeen Heights Primary School website.

As our Trivia Night draws closer, the Community Links Committee continues its preparations. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity already shown by a growing number of businesses and families. In particular, a heartfelt thank you to the Abrams family behind Casalinga Restaurant. It is always lovely to see members of our own school community getting behind events like this. We also extend our thanks to the many local and regional businesses that have already come on board. We encourage our community to support the businesses that support our school and look forward to acknowledging each of our generous contributors in a future newsletter.

If you own a business, work for a business, or know of one that may be willing to donate goods, services or vouchers, we would be delighted to hear from you. Every contribution, large or small, helps make a difference for our students.

One of the highlights of the evening each year is the ever-popular Barrow of Booze. If you are heading away over the holidays, perhaps even visiting one of our beautiful local wineries, we would love you to consider picking up an extra bottle to donate. Every contribution helps make our major fundraiser a success and ultimately benefits all students at Bimbadeen.

On behalf of School Council, I wish all members of our school community a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break. Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the term and semester.

I hope everyone returns refreshed and ready for all that Term 3 has in store.

Warm regards,

Kate Rogers
