Principals' Report

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, learn and play. We pay respect to Wurundjeri elders past, present and emerging and extend our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families of Bimbadeen Heights Primary School.

Celebrating Our Community, Values and Achievements

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on all that we have achieved together as a school community and to celebrate what makes Bimbadeen such a special place to learn, grow and belong.

At the heart of everything we do are our school values of Respect, Compassion, Integrity and Resilience. These values guide the way we learn, work and connect with one another every day. The excitement surrounding today’s Pyjama Day has been building steadily over the past few weeks, with students and staff eagerly anticipating this special celebration. It has been a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many ways our students demonstrate our values each and every day, both in and beyond the classroom.

A significant highlight of this term has been the completion of our School Review. Throughout the review process, one message came through loud and clear: students are at the centre of everything we do at Bimbadeen. Reviewers recognised the strong sense of community that exists across our school and the unwavering commitment of our staff to support every student to achieve their personal best and thrive in an environment where they feel safe, connected and experience a strong sense of belonging.

This commitment is evident in the outstanding work of our Wellbeing Team, who continue to drive wellbeing and inclusion initiatives across the school. Their dedication to supporting student engagement, fostering positive relationships and ensuring every child feels valued and supported plays a vital role in creating the welcoming and inclusive culture we are so proud of at Bimbadeen.

While we are proud of the many initiatives, programs and achievements across our school, it is our students who continue to inspire us every day. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, in the playground or out in the broader community, our students consistently demonstrate the values that make Bimbadeen such a special place. We have celebrated outstanding learning growth, sporting success, acts of kindness and inclusion, leadership, creativity and resilience throughout the term. Most importantly, we are incredibly proud of the way our students represent our school with pride, respect and compassion. Thank you for the positive contribution you make to our school community every day and for the enthusiasm, determination and care you bring to everything you do.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank our School Council Wellbeing Subcommittee for their ongoing work gathering feedback from our community. Alongside the valuable contributions of our Student Representative Council and Student Leadership Team, this feedback has helped guide the redesign of our school vision and values. We are excited to share more about this important work and our future direction with you next term.

Our school simply would not be the same without the incredible support of our families and community members. Thank you to the many parents, carers, grandparents and special people who generously volunteer their time in our classrooms each day. It is always wonderful to see so many mums, dads, grandmas, grandpas and other important family members working alongside our students, supporting their learning and helping them to reach their full potential.

We are equally grateful to those who assist on excursions, support our community walks, share their expertise as guest speakers and contribute to the many rich curricular experiences available to our students. Your involvement strengthens our school community and enriches learning opportunities for all.

A special acknowledgement must also go to our exceptional Education Support staff, whom we celebrated during Education Support Day in May. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team supporting our school. From our hardworking administration team and caring student support staff to our outstanding intervention and wellbeing teams and the best maintenance man in the business, who somehow manages to interrupt his sports equipment retrieval missions from the roof to dance along to our end-of-lunch music and entertain our students (while safely attached to a harness, of course!), each member of our Education Support team makes an invaluable contribution to the daily life of our school.

As the term draws to a close, our teachers have spent considerable time reviewing student learning and achievements and preparing Semester One reports. These reports provide an overview of your child’s learning outcomes and progress throughout the first half of the year. We encourage families to take some time during the holiday period to review and celebrate these achievements together. If you have not already done so, we also encourage you to make a time to meet with your child’s teacher during Parent-Teacher Interviews next term. Further information is available via Sentral.

Thank you to every member of our Bimbadeen community for your ongoing support, partnership and commitment to our school. Together, we continue to create a learning environment where every student is known, valued and empowered to succeed.

We wish all of our students, families and staff a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to an exciting and successful term ahead.
