Welcome back to Term 3! We have another exciting term of sport ahead, with plenty of opportunities for students to get involved and represent MMCRC.

This term, students can compete in Basketball and Table Tennis, while students and teams who qualified last term will compete at Regional Athletics, Regional Netball, and Regional Soccer. We wish all of our regional representatives the very best as they take on some of the strongest schools from across Gippsland.

Keep an eye on SIMON and Student Messages for information about trials, training sessions and event details throughout the term. We look forward to sharing our teams' results and celebrating their achievements in the next newsletter.

State Cross Country 

Congratulations to our students who proudly represented MMCRC at the SSV State Cross Country Championships, held at Yarra Glen on Thursday 16 July. Competing against the best runners from across Victoria, our students demonstrated determination, resilience and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.

Representing the College were Aaron Bruce, Aiden Cook, Caitlin Dakin, Logan Elbers, Maya Garlic, Lyla Hancock, Madison Van Den Broek and Harriet White. Representing MMCRC at the State Championships is a fantastic achievement, and each student should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Well done to all competitors on an outstanding performance.

Clay Target Shooting

South East Zone Gippsland School Championship

On Wednesday 22 July, Jaxon Blackman, Bryce Russell, Cooper Webb and Levi Bordanaro-Thorp proudly represented Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College at the South East Zone Gippsland School Championship in clay target shooting.

Competing against 128 students from across the South East Zone, all four students demonstrated focus, determination and excellent sportsmanship throughout the two rounds of competition.

Levi Bordanaro-Thorp finished with a score of 14 out of 20 targets. Bryce Russell and Cooper Webb each finished with 13 out of 20, while Jaxon Blackman recovered well after a difficult first round to finish with 12 out of 20. 

Well done to Jaxon, Bryce, Cooper and Levi on representing the College with pride and for the positive manner in which they conducted themselves throughout the competition. We wish them all the best in their future events.

Gippsland Sports Academy

We also congratulate Jackson and Bryce on their recent selection into the Gippsland Sports Academy Clay Target Shooting Program. This is a fantastic achievement and recognition of their commitment to the sport. We wish them every success as they continue training with the Academy.
