Staff Spirituality Day 

MORE THAN A JOB

On Monday 13 July, staff gathered for a meaningful Spirituality Day facilitated by Jo McDade from Retreats by Design, a retreat facilitator and formation consultant who has worked with Catholic school communities across Australia for more than two decades.

The day provided a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect with our vocation as Catholic educators. Through prayer, conversation, personal reflection and shared experiences, staff were invited to consider why they do this work and to reconnect with the heart that first called them to education. Reflection activities encouraged staff to revisit moments of inspiration in their work, consider the impact they have on others, and reflect on the best version of themselves that they bring to their role each day.

Drawing on the theme “More Than a Job”, Jo challenged us to recognise the sacred nature of our work with young people and one another. Staff were reminded that the everyday moments of teaching, supporting, encouraging and accompanying students are opportunities to bring the heart of Christ to life within our community.

The day resonated strongly with the College's mission of bringing the Gospel of Jesus to life, educating the whole person, and developing a welcoming Catholic faith community inspired by the example of Mary MacKillop. Staff reflected on how our shared mission calls us not only to educational excellence but also to justice, service and authentic relationships.

Importantly, the day strengthened our sense of community and collegiality. Through shared conversations, activities and prayer, staff were given the opportunity to connect with colleagues, deepen relationships and recognise the gifts each person brings to our College. We were reminded that our mission is not carried out individually, but as a faith-filled community working together to support the flourishing of every student entrusted to our care.

We are grateful to Jo McDade for creating a welcoming and reflective space that enabled staff to step away from the busyness of daily life, renew their sense of purpose, and return to their work with a deeper appreciation of the shared mission at the heart of Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College.

Celebrating 40 Years of 

Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College

This year, our Feast Day of Saint Mary MacKillop will be especially significant as we celebrate 40 years of Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College.

The day will begin with a Feast Day Mass at 9:30am, followed by special guest speakers sharing reflections on the College’s rich history and journey over the past four decades.

From 11:30am–2:30pm, the College will host a Community Celebration Festival, welcoming students, families, alumni, parishioners and members of the wider community. The festival will feature student-run stalls and games, food and refreshments, live entertainment, community groups, prizes and activities for all ages.

As this is a cashless event, prepaid festival cards can be purchased through CDFpay/Flexischools in $5 and $10 denominations, with multiple cards able to be purchased before or during the event. Most activities and stall items will cost between 50 cents and $5, and additional cards will be available for purchase on the day.

Funds raised throughout the day will support the charitable works of

MacKillop Today, Trinity Families and the St Vincent de Paul Society.
