YEAR 8 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 2
Subject Selection Expo
Thank you to the many Year 8 students and families who attended the Subject Selection Expo on Wednesday evening. It was a valuable opportunity for students to speak directly with Heads of Department and subject specialists, ask questions, and gather information to support informed subject selections for 2027.
For families who were unable to attend, the 2027 Subject Selection Handbook is available on the College website. An email was also sent during the holidays containing an informative video that can be viewed at your convenience. If you have any questions regarding subject selection, please do not hesitate to contact the College.
Subject selection will open on Monday of Week 3 (27 July). Students are required to complete their selections online, print the confirmation form, obtain a parent or carer's signature, and submit the signed form to their Pastoral Mentor by Week 6.
Extended Pastoral Group – Week 2
During next week's extended pastoral group, students will review their Semester 1 report and engage in a reflective conversation with their Pastoral Mentor. The focus will be on their effort and behaviour results—areas that are within each student's control.
Students will identify their strengths, celebrate their achievements, and reflect on opportunities for growth and improvement. This process is an important part of developing self-awareness and resilience, and will help our students reach their potential.
Uniform and Grooming Expectations – Reminder
A reminder that the St Mary's Catholic College Uniform and Grooming Policy requires students' hair to be neat, of a conventional style, and of a natural colour, shade and tone.
Examples of unacceptable hairstyles include, but are not limited to, mullets, undercuts, shaved patterns, steps, lines, dreadlocks, cornrows, marked contrasts in hair length, skin fades, and crew cuts shorter than a Number 3 comb length.
We appreciate your support in ensuring students meet these expectations. If you have any questions regarding the Uniform and Grooming Policy, please do not hesitate to contact the College.
