Youth MYKI From January 2026

FREE PUBLIC TRANSPORT FOR EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY, EVERYWHERE

The Victorian Government has introduced free public transport for everyone under 18 within Victoria, from 1 January 2026, for holders of a Youth MYKI.

Youth MYKI Cards can be purchased from the Ballarat and Wendouree Train stations for $5.00.

No further cost for travellers is applicable – but you must tap on and tap off as normal.

Children living in non-myki areas will also be eligible for free travel. The free travel will be available on all forms of public transport including trams, trains, buses and coach services in metro, regional and rural areas.

18 and over? Students who have turned 18 are able to use their BHS Student ID Card (which includes the PTV Logo) as evidence they are a student and therefore eligible for concession fares.
