Introducing Our Child Safety Champion: Leanne Clements
We are pleased to introduce Leanne as Glen Education’s Child Safety Champion. Leanne will play a central role in leading our ongoing commitment to creating and maintaining a culture where every child feels safe, respected, and valued.
At Glen Education, we believe every child has the right to be and feel safe in environments that honour their cultural identity, history, and lived experience. Protecting children from harm is embedded in our daily practices of meeting, teaching, and learning.
The Child Safety Champion position is vital in supporting our staff, children, and families to uphold the highest standards of child safety and wellbeing.
Child Safety Champion – Role Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a culture of child safety that reflects our commitment to emotional, social, cultural, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
- Promote and uphold the Victorian Child Safe Standards, guided by:
- The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
- The Early Childhood Australia (ECA) Code of Ethics
- The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
- Facilitate consultation and collaboration with all stakeholders -including children - to inform child safety policies and practices.
- Build accessible communication pathways for children, families, and educators, such as simplified or child-friendly versions of child safety and wellbeing policies.
- Identify and support professional learning needs related to child safety for individuals and teams.
- Ensure child safety is reflected in daily practice, and support responsive, continuous improvement in governance and procedures.
- Lead the implementation and review of child safety action plans, fostering a culture of ongoing capacity building and accountability.
