Mel, What advice would you give parents or caregivers to support early childhood development at home?
“Children can only learn when they feel safe enough to take learning risks and confident enough to try something new - and sometimes try, try again. My advice is grounded in a belief that supports the development of an environment which cultivates a positive self-esteem, interconnectedness, persistence, curiosity, and confidence. Cherish every moment you have, to be in the moment with your child/ren. Notice each incremental step of their development, the way they learn best and the things that grasp their attention and curiosity. Provide clear guidance and expectations, but balance this with the reassurance they need to explore the world, and their own capabilities. Let them know every day that you are their safe base during life’s joys and complexities. Above all, shower them in unconditional love and kindness, so they know your love has no limits and no bias.”
Thank you Mel, Glen Education and the entire sector is lucky to have you.
