Auslan in the Footy Finals Spirit!
To celebrate the AFL finals series, our Grade 4–6 students have been learning how to sign the names of each AFL team. They then put their knowledge into action by competing against their peers in their very own ‘Footy Game’ – Auslan style!
We also explored how the AFL is becoming more inclusive for Deaf and Hard of Hearing players and fans. Did you know the entire finals series is interpreted? If you’re heading to a game this weekend, keep an eye out for the interpreters on the field!
Blue Day Success!
This week we celebrated Blue Day, raising awareness of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community. It was fantastic to see a sea of blue throughout the school!
We completely sold out of our beautiful butterfly badges and had an overwhelming number of entries in both the colouring competition and the butterfly search competition. Winners will be announced at Assembly, but we’re excited to share that together we raised a massive $376.25!
A huge thank you to everyone who purchased a badge and wore blue to support such a wonderful cause. 💙
