Dear Families,
On Wednesday, we had the absolute pleasure of watching our Year 3–6 students take to the stage in our gymnasium, performing their choreographed dances in front of a large crowd of very proud parents and family members. The energy in the room was contagious, and it was wonderful to see the joy, pride and confidence shining through in every performance.
What struck me most throughout the afternoon was not just the skill of the dancing, but the way our students so beautifully embodied our values of respect, responsibility, and resilience. Each performance was more than a dance routine — it was a demonstration of teamwork, support, and a shared sense of accomplishment.
At Berwick Chase, we are proud of the rich diversity that makes up our school community. We have students from First Nations communities, students whose families come from countries all around the world, and students whose families have been part of Australia for generations. In a world where we are so often told that society is becoming less tolerant and more divided, what we see every day at our school is the complete opposite.
Our students look past differences of culture or background. To them, friendship is about kindness, care for others, and a willingness to have fun together. Today’s performance was a shining example of this spirit in action. Every child performed with the knowledge that they were not alone — their teammates were right beside them, ready to cheer them on and celebrate their efforts.
As I watched, I couldn’t help but feel an enormous sense of hope. The students of Berwick Chase are showing us that respect, compassion, and community are alive and well. With these young people preparing to take their place as future leaders, I am confident that the world ahead will be brighter and more inclusive.
A special thank you must go to Paige and Olivia from Dance n Schools, who were the creative force behind the choreography and inspired our students to shine on stage. We are so grateful for their energy, passion, and expertise, which made today’s spectacular event possible.
Warm Regards,
Christ Short
