Year 5 Camp

Day 1
On Monday, September 15th, the Grade 5s arrived at Woorabinda. When we arrived, we had lunch at the rotunda and had an amazing time running and rolling down the hill. After lunch, we did team challenges.
The first activity was Hole-in-One (Aiden totally didn’t name that). In this activity, we had to use segments of a tube, line them up, and try to get a ball into a plastic cup without touching or dropping it. After finishing, we had to find items from our coloured groups. Once we found all six items, we had to navigate a map to the next challenge.
The next challenge was the Tarp Flip Challenge, which was very difficult to complete. In this challenge, our whole team had to stand on the tarp and try to flip it over without stepping off. The final challenge involved a tube with holes in it, a ping pong ball, and a code to the coloured safe.
When all the groups finished, we went to our cabins with our luggage and settled in. Then we headed down to the dining hall, where we had pasta and chicken for dinner. After dinner, we split into our colour groups and reflected on our day so far. Then we went on a night hike. While we were walking, we saw possums that didn’t seem too happy with us (probably because we shone bright lights at them!). We also collected sticks on our way to the fire. After we came back, we had s’mores.
Day 2
We woke up to teachers yelling at us to get up! We all went to the bathroom, brushed our teeth, and got ready for the day. After that, we headed to the dining hall for breakfast. The food was mediocre.
Then we went to the assembly hall to sing the Woorabinda song and talk about the weather and other topics. Afterward, we went into our adventure groups. All the adventure groups were unique and fun. We also cooked our own lunch in the fire pit. Lunch was called steam boats (carrots, potato, sausage, and pumpkin). They were good to some people and not so good to others!
After lunch, we went back to our adventure activities for the day. It was a long but fun day, and eventually, we headed back to camp for dinner. We went to the dining hall and had butter chicken, curry, chips, and fish it was great!
The teachers said they had a surprise in the assembly room, and we had to bring a bag full of random stuff. When we arrived, we were met with Mr. Bacon acting like a host and giving everyone negative points. All the teachers came out in funny and goofy costumes (the hosts), and we all laughed. They announced the categories, and we all brought up random items to match them! In the end, the Yellow Girls (Charli’s awesome group) won.
After that, we checked out for the night and headed to bed.
Day 3
On the third day, we woke up and started our day with a yummy breakfast. Today, we got to pick activities we didn’t get to complete the previous day, but the most popular one was the library so people could chill out. All the activities offered both a challenge and lots of fun.
But everything fun has to end, sadly camp finished just a few hours later. We finally hopped on the bus and took the long ride back to Lyndhurst.
And that was our camp experience!
