The LPS Parents and Friends Association (PFA) work tirelessly, all year round, to provide unique and celebratory events for our students, whilst also raising funds towards much needed school projects. One such project is installation of blinds in classrooms. PFA has been financially supportive of installing a total of 78 blinds, equating to $16,000 in a multitude of classrooms. Such will occur in the coming months, with finalisation by the end of January 2026. A heartfelt thank you to the LPS community for reaching into their pockets, big and small.

We live and learn in a beautiful environment associated with the wetlands. At certain times of the year, the birdlife is more vibrant. As such, there is often the need to be more vigilant with birds protecting their nests. Please be patient of our wildlife.

Of recent, there has been multiple reports of an adventurous magpie near the Brookwater Parade/Marriott Boulevard roundabout. Please be aware if you are walking in this area.

Until further notice, unfortunately rugby is not allowed to be played at school, unless an adult is explicitly supervising.

Such supervision would need to be arranged PRIOR with the staff member understanding their role in ensuring students know and abide by the rules so that all students are safe.

It is respected that rugby is a culturally rich sport, but unfortunately students generally do not know the ‘true rules’ and are becoming rough in their actions, resulting in tackling and throwing peers to the ground being hurt.

2026 Prep Transition Program

We are very excited to welcome our Preps for 2026 for their first transition sessions this week. Our wonderful Preps are excited to share their love of learning with them. Our fabulous Year 5 students and student leaders will be assisting with the organisation of this program.

Welcome Back to Term 4

Welcome back to Term 4 at Lyndhurst Primary School! We hope all our students and families enjoyed a well-deserved break and are ready for an exciting and productive final term of the year.

Term 4 is always a vibrant and busy time in our school calendar, filled with a variety of opportunities for our students to celebrate their learning and achievements. This term will include excursions, expos, and graduation events, all designed to recognise student growth and showcase the wonderful learning that has taken place throughout the year.

We encourage families to stay up to date by regularly checking the school calendar and Compass notifications for key dates and updates. Your continued support and engagement are greatly appreciated and help make these events a success.

We look forward to sharing a positive and memorable Term 4 together.

Children’s Week

Children’s Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

Children’s Week is celebrated from Saturday 18 October to Sunday 26 October 2025, with thousands of Victorian children and families expected to take part.

There are a variety of events held across Victoria from 18 October 2025

This year’s theme is ‘Everyone should know about Children’s Rights’, based on Article 42 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

A tribute to Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall is a renowned primatologist, best known for her groundbreaking research on wild chimpanzees in Tanzania. Beginning in 1960, her work revolutionised our understanding of primates, revealing their complex social behaviours and tool use. Goodall later became a global advocate for conservation, animal welfare, and environmental education through the Jane Goodall Institute. Her Roots & Shoots program empowers youth to make positive change. Goodall’s lifelong dedication continues to inspire generations to protect animals and the planet.

Jane was however, more than a world-renowned scientist; she was a gentle force of nature. With her quiet voice, she stirred louder revolutions than speeches shouted from podiums. With her humility, she showed us that true greatness lies in compassion. She believed that hope is born in action, and she entrusted that hope to young people everywhere.

To sit with her, to listen to her words, was to feel the weight of wisdom and the lightness of possibility all at once. Jane leaves behind not only groundbreaking research but also a legacy of kindness, courage, and unwavering faith in humanity’s ability to do better.

Her life reminds us that one person, rooted in love and vision, can change the course of the world. And though her voice may fall silent, the pant-hoot of joy and defiance she gifted us will echo for generations.
