Season of Creation

On 1 September, the Church celebrates the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, which also marks the beginning of the Season of Creation. This special time is celebrated by Christians around the world and continues until 4 October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology.

The Season of Creation invites us to pause and give thanks for the beauty and wonder of the world God has created. It also reminds us that we share a responsibility to care for our common home and protect it for future generations. Pope Francis encourages us to recognise that caring for creation is an important part of living our faith and showing love for God and one another.

Throughout this season, we are encouraged to reflect on the choices we make and how they affect the environment and other people, particularly those who are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Simple actions such as reducing waste, conserving water, caring for plants and animals, and spending time appreciating nature can all make a meaningful difference.

As we begin the Season of Creation, may we continue to grow in gratitude for God’s wonderful world and work together as a school community to care for the precious gift of creation entrusted to us.
