Principal's Message

What a fantastic Swimming Fortnight we have had! Over the past two weeks, our students have approached the swimming program with enthusiasm, resilience and a willingness to have a go. It has been wonderful to see students challenging themselves, developing their confidence in the water and, most importantly, trying their very best each day.
I am incredibly proud of the way our students represented George Street Primary School throughout the program. Their behaviour was outstanding, and they consistently demonstrated our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience — whether listening to instructors, encouraging their classmates, managing the daily routines or persevering when something was challenging.
A huge thank you must also go to our staff. Swimming fortnight requires a significant amount of additional organisation, supervision and flexibility, and I greatly appreciate the extra effort everyone has put in to ensure the program has run smoothly and our students have been supported to participate successfully.
And, of course, thank you to our families! We know swimming fortnight also means two weeks of washing swimmers and towels, drying everything overnight, repacking bags and making sure it all comes back to school again the next morning! Your support and organisation behind the scenes has been greatly appreciated.
We also enjoyed celebrating Book Week with our much-loved dress-up day and parade. It was fantastic to see our students (and staff!) arriving at school as favourite book characters and sharing their love of stories and reading. The creativity and effort that went into the costumes was wonderful, and our parade was a great opportunity for the whole school to come together and celebrate. Thank you to our families for helping organise costumes, finding those last-minute accessories and supporting another busy school event!
Congratulations to all of our students on a terrific fortnight. After swimming, Book Week and everything else happening around the school, I think everyone has certainly earned a restful weekend!
